  • Meditation and relaxation eases muscles and fights fatigue and deep breathing clears the mind and reduces tension. It reduces stress, anxiety, sleeping problems, depression and finally relieves pain.
  • Progressive relaxation relieves pain. You need to lie on your back and systematically tense and relax each part of your body. You will also be required to engage your mind positively, associating it to some happy memory and become less aware of your pain.
  • A combination of relaxation, visualization and signals from a machine to control your pain is called Biofeedback. You are taught to control blood pressure, muscle tension, heart rate and temperature as you are attached to a machine by electrodes.
  • Occupational therapy originates from physical medicine, psychiatry and behavioral psychology. It helps the sufferer determine the activities that intensify pain, teach methods to decrease pain and teaches good habits for a better life.
  • Pain relief techniques include body mechanics, joint protection, conserving energy, exercises, focusing abilities, adaptive devices and relaxation methods.

Pain relief medication may bring along some side effects like nausea, rash, itching, breathing problem, constipation or excessive sweating. These signify that you are allergic to medication. In that case, you should immediately visit your doctor and stop taking further medicine.

There are various pain relief centers where there are specialists like internal and physical medicine specialists, physical therapists, psychiatrists, chiropractors and acupuncturists. Never hide anything when consulting a doctor. Pain relief is always possible.
